Histamine is broken down by 2 major enzymes in the body: diamine oxidase (DAO) and histamine-N-methyltransfera (HNMT). This DNA test analyzes the genes related to both DAO and HNMT.
Some genetic variants will create low-functioning enzymes, leading to increased levels of histamine and allergic symptoms. Identifying these gene variants help you choose the right diet and supplements to support defective DAO and HNMT genes and reduce allergic symptoms.
